Film Review - Main Tera Hero_ Varun Dhawan

After making a smashing debut in ‘Student of the Year’ in 2012 Varun Dhawan is back on big screen and this time a solo hero movie titled ‘Main Tera Hero’ which is directed by his dad David Dhawan. Comedy is David’s forte and after directing superstars like Govinda and Salman Khan, he is set to make his son a star and that too in a genre which has no takers in the new generation. Main Tera Hero is the remake of Telugu film Kandireega and Ekta Kapoor who had the rights for it, is Producing Main Tera Hero.
Seenu (Varun Dhawan) is a ‘Student of the year’ as he manages to keep failing in the same class and he decides to leave his hometown Connor and head to Bangalore to fulfill his dream of getting a degree. After receiving a grand farewell he heads to TIFT College where he falls in love with Sunaina (Ileana D’cruz) who is being forced to marry a hot headed cop Angad (Arunoday Singh). Angad has a sidekick Peter (Rajpal Yadav) and the duo make sure that no boy comes near Sunaina on the college campus. While Seenu is busy trying to win over Sunaina from Angad there arrives, a twist in the tale in form of Ayesha Singhal (Nargis Fakhri). Ayesha is daughter of Bangkok mafia don Singhal (Anupam Kher) who is funny and his voice echoes as he was born in the mountains. Ayesha quotes ‘My dad has pampered me from the time I was wearing Pampers’ and when she is attracted to Seenu he kidnaps him and forces him to marry his daughter. Singhal has a girlfriend of his daugther’s age Veronica (Evelyn Sharma) and a right hand Bali (Saurabh Shukla) who adds to the chaos and comic situations. And of course there is a goon Johnny (Shakti Kapoor) who stuffs Nemo the fish with drugs and speaks with Bollywood titles. Special mention to Tom and Cherry chase between Seenu and Angad.
Varun Dhawan is a complete revelation from the minute he entered the frame he proves his mettle, in the new generation Varun is probably the only actor with good comic timing and has the potential to become a superstar. He dances like Govinda and looks as stunning as Salman with his six packs Ileana D’Cruz is impressive she acts well and looks gorgeous. Nargis Fakhri looks hot and she plays the dumb blonde surprisingly well. Anupam Kher is hilarious and delivers another great performance. Arunoday Singh is amazingly good he has the macho built and shows his comical side. Saurabh Shukla is outstanding he makes you laugh every time he appears. Evelyn Sharma is decent, but has a limited role.
‘I am back’ is probably what David Dhawan will be singing at the box-office as he delivers a winner. Main Tera Hoon is a total paisa vasool it has comedy, drama and not a single dull moment, it could be the first super-hit of 2014. Milap Zaveri is a writer who wins hearts every time he puts pen to paper, his one liner will crack you up. The Dialogues are bound to make the audiences laugh be it ‘Bapa ke Papa’ or the ‘Purani haveli ke pass chikni chameli’ or even the naughty line ‘Jiske topse tum nikle hoon’. All the characters are well sketched and that makes Main Tera Hero fun to watch. Screenplay by Tushar Hirandani is smooth and keeps you glued till the end. Music by Sajid –Wajid is upbeat and makes the movie more fun. Editing by Nitin Rokade is exceptional he makes sure that there is no single moment that will slow down the movie.
Main Tera Hoon has all that it takes to be a super hit and with summer vacations on this Hero is going to rake in the moolah at the box-office.
